Is it that time of the Month already? Are you participating in Elm Streets Quilt – One Monthly Goal? You can join in anytime. I have found it a great way to stay organized. I have not always finished my goals but it does keep me in my projects, thinking and working out which project I would like to work on. I truly feel that I have finished more things then I would have on my own, a simple way of keeping me on task.
This is a Instagram event and I have participated every time it comes around.
I love being able to grant wishes and I usually end up giving 20+ packages out. Once you have granted some wishes, you then in turn get to ask for a wish or two. I usually always ask for those unwanted UFO’s that are lying around and you really don’t want to look at them any more. Be it blocks, scraps, kits or bits and pieces. It is always so much fun for me to figure out how to breath new life into these wonderful unwanted bits. I really enjoy the challenge!
Sometimes I am able to take a gift and finish it then return it as a surprise to the original owner. That is especially exciting. I was able to do this with a table runner kit that had been sent to me. I knew that it was going to go right back to the original owner!
The blocks in this case were in groupings, some were already in HST’s, while others were sewn but not cut apart and then still some were just in blocks. I had no pattern or idea what the original intent was. So they have been sitting for sometime. I was waiting for them to speak to me.
Then not to long ago, my friend Lori shared with me a pattern that she was wanting to do…. Moda’s Love Layercake Quilt……(it is a free pattern you can get here). When I read the instructions, I knew right away that I could use these gifted blocks for this pattern. I believe that all I have to do is add some white blocks to go with the printed blocks. I am hoping that this works. I really love these Liberty fabrics and want to use them. So this month’s goal is going to be just to piece this together.
I did not complete last month’s goal.
There was the wildfire and my sister’s wedding. Just a few of life’s interruptions. I know that with July comes new beginnings – Starting with this quilt!
I have really enjoyed seeing all the different projects that are on the sewing table, cutting mat, longarm machine, or in a hoop. Inspiration abounds!! Thank you for inspiring me!!
Until Next Time………………………One stitch at a time!
