RARE Bear Army…….

Rare Bear Project

So today I worked on making my RARE Bear for the Rare Science Program. I had joined the RARE Bear Army back in Oct. and received my packet with excitement. I just completely wanted to make one and quickly make another……but as it turns out I had a very hard time with picking fabric. You see with the packet, comes a serial number…..and to me that made it even more important that it be just right. It kinda took on a life of it’s own. So there it sat and waited for me to breath life into the pattern with the prefect fabrics, and the positive energy that I wanted to infuse with the process. Then as if the timer goes off when baking bread, the prefect fabric came to me; by way of JTQuilting. Jenn had some fabric that she just did not know what to do with it and the minute I saw it I knew this was the prefect fabric I had been waiting for. 🙂

I came home and began cutting. I made two out of the same two fabrics. One will get it’s Serial number and special feet: while the other will stay here and look over my sewing studio.

When the process is all done; I will receive a picture of the Special Child that will receive my bear. Which for me, makes the project even more personal. This bear will be someone’s best friend and confidant. It will be named and loved by a very special child. This took me right back to my childhood…….for I still have my first beloved teddy bear…….Teddy.

I hope you get a chance to go over and check out the amazing things they are doing and how you can participate.  The Quilt Show is even getting in on it with a RARE Bear Game Day Sew In Contest. Take a moment and think about how you can give the gift of a RARE Bear.

Until next time………….think about how you can do a small service from the heart each day!
