This week’s free Splendid Sampler block was designed by Helen Stubbings. It is a lovely block called “ClamShells” and it uses English paper piecing. Helen has wonderful tutorials HERE for those of you who have never hand appliqued or have ever English Paper pieced before. I found her tutorials very easy follow and understand. I sincerely hope that you give this block a try.
If you would like to know what fabrics I chose you can read about that here. I am loving how my fabrics bring the blocks to life. I have not worked with dots in any of my personal projects before this Sew Along. So this has been especially fun to see how I like them.
I did not do my very best on the hand sewing and will probably go back and correct it in the future (when I am not under so much pressure to get it done….lol). However, I love how my fabric crayons have embellished my embroidery. What do you think?
I have really enjoyed seeing all the different ways people have made this block. I had thoughts about using buttons as the flower centers or about using glitter or beads……how would you enhance your block?? I still might go back in and add glitter to the outside of the flower petals. Adding that shimmer that flowers have after a nice rain!
I am looking forward to the next block in The Splendid Sampler hosted by Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson! Don’t forget to buy the book so that after the first 20 free blocks you can keep participating, it is never too late to join in the fun.
Until Next Time……………………Have some Scrappy Fun!!
