Vintage meets Modern

Baby quilt using vintage scotty dog blocks and stitchers garden fabric

Today I made a baby quilt for my husband’s niece. I had the Scottie Dog blocks for quite some time. They had been a gift to me. A friend found them at a yard sale for .99 cents, yep for all nine blocks. I tucked them away not really knowing what I was going to do with them.

Then here recently RJR Fabrics sent me a few FQ (fat quarters) of their new fabric Stitchers Garden. Immediately I thought of my long forgotten blocks.

appling interfacing to the vintage blocks

I first needed to add interfacing to the blocks. They are hand appliqued to an old cotton sheet. Some of the blocks were hand embroidered with some details, three of them. The rest were marked but not done yet. I am still thinking about that. I may just leave them as is.

Here you can see the scottie dog and the handwork that has been done. This is also showing how the new fabric from RJR is prefect for handwork!!A close up of that handwork!

I am so very happy with how this is turning out. I will be taking my time in doing the handwork. I have about two weeks before the baby shower to get it done. I will add the finished quilt to my gallery.

Until next time………………enjoy the present while embracing the past! For you could not have one without the other!
