Welcome to week three of the Community Sampler with Sharon and Maureen. I am always looking forward to the next block. 😊 Thinking about it I am sure that it is in part because of how wonderfully written these patterns are! But I am also looking forward to working with my Christmas fabrics that I have chosen. It is refreshing to work from my stash, reacquainting myself with those fabrics that I fell in love with so long ago. I still love them.💗 I have found that the older fabric has such a nice weight to them, putting into prospective just how much our “good quilting” fabric is lighter. The cost of the industry I am sure. I am that much more grateful that I have held onto my stash. 😊
I am working with Laura Burch fabrics. My very small collection was mostly Christmas fabrics, so this Sew Along was the perfect reason to bring them out to play. I Have chosen to color my blocks in as I am making them. I am not sure how it will work out but I wanted to try something new. Giving me room for flexibility, as I have some very small scraps.
I also wanted to share with you how I save my patterns. When I print it off the new block patter goes right into a binder, in a sleeve protector. This binder also has the Social Bee Sampler block patterns in it.
I enjoy keeping these things organized. I pick up binders just about any where. I will make a cover for the binder when it is full. It helps me to know what is where at a quick glance at my bookcase. I am needing to make a few here soon. So you will have that to look forward to in the near future. 😁
The below picture shows you my absolutely favorite way to trim up my flying geese. I only have a few Bloc-Loc rulers and they sure do make things easier. My second favorite ruler to trim up flying geese is the Quilt in a Day Small Flying geese Ruler.
I found this block was easy to put together and would be fun in a bunch of different color ways. Here is my version of the Dovecote block.
And then there were two! On the left is Kitty-Corner and on the right is Dovecote!
There is still time to join in on the fun! All you have to do is go over to Sharon’s or Maureen’s Blog to find the tips, tricks and PDF’s to this amazing Sew Along. Whether you make the blocks or just print off the patterns for later, I am sure you will be happy you did.
Until Next Time……………………….I hope you find inspiration!
